Thoughts on YouTube NextUp

The famous day that hundreds of european YouTubers have been waiting for has finally come.

Last night, after attending a long and intense firework show on the beach here in Pescara, I got back home and browsed my way to the YouTube NextUp page.

The winners were contacted by YouTube itself a few days before the big announcement so, even though I knew I wasn’t going to be on that page, my excitement and curiosity were still on a pretty high rate.

Yesterday was a serious life-changing day but, not for me. I didn’t make it. It’s ok though. There’s really nothing I can complain about.

I actually thought that it was going to be easier but, when such talented people started entering the competition, things only got challenging and even more exciting.

It was a real pleasure for me to enter this fabulous contest and get to discover great people I didn’t  know before. People who fight and work everyday to pursuit their dreams. This whole thing is only the latest demonstration of how the internet can positively affect someone’s life.

So even though I didn’t make it I’m really glad for who did.

I got to know JuliusFhan (one of the italian winners) through this YouTube Contest and I ended up absolutely loving him. He’s extremely talented and brilliantly capable of making awesome content for this lovely thing called the “Internet”.

Thanks to NextUp I also discovered EnricoZeroDX and Zizzomagic (other italian winners). They’re simply great and you can definitely tell from their videos how much effort and love they put into what they do.

That’s not about fame. It’s just all about passion.

Among the others european winners is Lex (Tyrannosauruslexxx) who was one of my favorites. I was subscribed to her channel even before NextUp and I was just happy to see her video amazingly standing out of the crowd. She’s just so good.

Other amazing people such as Gir2007 and PeepHoleCircus (just to mention a few) are also next up so, there’s really nothing you can say about the way YouTube handled this thing.

Speaking of me, I just want to thank everyone who has supported me so far and will keep doing it. I was so impressed by the amount of love in your comments. Seeing that so many people got interested in the project of my life made me so happy. Video after video, tweet after tweet, the engagement with you guys keeps growing and that keeps me going.

A big and very special thanks goes to Lolla, Sistiana, Fabio Intiso, Simona Melani, Giulia Trapuzzano (and everybody else who did something without me even knowing about) for supporting my project as well. Thank you guys so much.

I didn’t make it this time, but I’ll keep on trying.

The only thing I’m really sorry about is that I won’t get to go to London and meet these awesome people. I’m sure there’ll be other chances.

Thank you YouTube for this big opportunity.

I want to dedicate last night’s fireworks to the winners. You guys deserved it. Keep on rocking!

E.
